What is realness? Why does it exist?
Many African filmmakers face underfunded, fragmented ecosystems. Yet from this scarcity, innovation blooms , realness becomes resilience.
“African filmmakers navigate unequal structures and exploitation risks, yet across 54 nations, bold storytellers are redefining genres and reclaiming identity. Their resilience is the realness of African storytelling.”
Collaboration means nurturing the soil,
not just harvesting the fruit.
Realness is not about perfection; it’s about showing up as you are, embracing your journey, and letting your work reflect your truth.
