Nomvuyo Bengane

1. Tell us what drives you? What is your true passion in life?

I am driven by purpose more than passion. My purpose is to help people and organisations unleash the greatness God has planted within them so they can prosper.

I do this through my work as a Business and Executive Coach, Entrepreneur, former lecturer, author of Unleash Purpose and Prosperity in Africa, creator of Afriternergy™, as well as host of UPPA Conversations (Unleash Purpose and Prosperity in Africa)

My life’s calling is to activate potential, shift mindsets, and help people step boldly into purpose and prosperity.

  1. How did you find your passion and how old were you?

I discovered my purpose at age 48. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others find theirs much earlier — so they can live intentionally, make a meaningful impact with their gifts, and prosper for themselves, their families, and their communities.

  1. What about your passion appeals to you the most?

What appeals to me most is witnessing transformation. I love seeing a person or organisation move from uncertainty to clarity, from surviving to thriving. The moment someone realises, “I can do this; I was created for more,” fuels me in ways words cannot express. Purpose work restores hope, rewires confidence, and opens doors — and being part of that shift is deeply fulfilling.

  1. What drove you to make money from your passions?

I realised that purpose deserves structure, excellence, and sustainability. If I was truly called to empower others, then I needed to build a model that allowed me to serve consistently, professionally, and at scale.

Monetising my purpose was never about chasing profit for the sake of profit — it was about creating a sustainable platform that enables me to expand my impact, touch more lives, and also make a comfortable living while doing what I was created to do.

  1. When was the first time you were paid for your passion?

It took me seven years to move from knowing my purpose to fully living it. That is why I am intentional about helping people bridge the gap between discovering their purpose and actually stepping into it.

Before charging for my services, I volunteered for organisations and individuals, sharpening my skills and building my confidence.

My first paying clients were medium-sized businesses that had worked with me in my previous branding and printing company. One of them wanted to strengthen their sales team, and I stepped in to help. The impact was immediate ,even the receptionist gained the confidence to engage with clients and sell. That experience confirmed that purpose, when applied with sincerity and skill, creates transformation worth investing in.

  1. What kept you going when you thought about giving up?

Three things carry me through:

a) My faith, which constantly reminds me that I am not operating in my own strength. The One who called me has abundant resources to ensure that I accomplish what He intends.

b) The people I serve, who remind me that my work is far bigger than me. Their transformations fuel me — every person who becomes more confident, embraces their greatness, becomes the best version of themselves, and impacts the world around them fills me with renewed zeal.

c) My vision for Africa, which keeps calling me higher as I continually ask: How can we leverage the wealth God has endowed this continent with? This question gives rise to Afriternergy™️ , the force that drives my work and my message.

Purpose becomes an anchor in difficult seasons; it refuses to let you quit.

  1. What motivates you every day to be even more successful?

I wake up motivated by the impact I see and the impact still ahead. Africa is on the cusp of possibility, and knowing that my work, voice, and assignments contribute to that transformation pushes me forward. Success for me is not personal achievement; it is multiplied prosperity across families, communities, and generations.

  1. What do you have to say to all the people who doubted you?

I am grateful. Their doubt became fuel. It taught me to validate myself from within rather than seek approval from outside. Every “you can’t” pushed me deeper into God’s “you will.” Today, my journey is proof that purpose outlives opinion.

  1. What advice do you give to aspiring creatives who look up to you?

Discover your purpose. Once you are clear about why you are on earth, start where you are, with what you have. Don’t wait for perfect conditions — purpose is built in motion. Protect your mindset, honour your gift, stay consistent, and surround yourself with people who stretch you. And above all, remember: your creativity is not just talent; it is a calling. Treat it with the respect, discipline, and faith it deserves.
