Meet CreatePreneurAfrica Botlhale Thapelo Sehoole : South Africa’s Rising Star of African Dance Theatre

1. What drives you? What is your true passion in life?
I am driven by my faith in God and by the goals and plans I believe He has placed in my heart. My life’s passion is to shift the public’s perspective on what dance truly is — to reveal it as a powerful form of storytelling through movement.
2. How did you find your passion, and how old were you?
When I was six, my mom and I had these treasured car music sessions. One day, she asked if I wanted to do music or dance classes. I already knew I could sing, so I chose dance to challenge myself — and discovered a whole new gift waiting to unfold.
3. What about your passion appeals to you most?
Dance can tell stories words cannot. I’m not naturally outspoken about my emotions, but dance became my therapy and my way of healing. Whether I’m choreographing, improvising, or performing, the movement transforms me — and it has the power to heal and connect with people everywhere.
4. What drove you to make money from your passion?
Since the age of six, I knew I wanted to spend my life in dance and music. That certainty made the decision to pursue them professionally an easy and natural one.
5. When was the first time you were paid for your passion?
I haven’t yet been paid for my work in dance — and that’s okay. I’m still learning from so many people, and I trust that when the time is right, God will open that door. I don’t walk this journey alone; He is with me every step of the way.
6. What kept you going when you thought about giving up?
I know this calling didn’t come from me alone. And every time I feel like giving up, I remember how dance makes me feel — how it changes the way I see the world. That reminder is all the fuel I need to keep moving.
7. What motivates you to be even more successful?
It’s the thought that my gift can make someone feel good just by watching me dance or seeing my choreography. I want to be a breakthrough in someone’s life — proof that anything is possible when you commit your mind and heart.
8. What do you say to people who doubted you?
Nothing at all. I don’t engage with negativity. My approval doesn’t come from them — it comes from God.
9. What advice do you give to aspiring creatives?
Don’t strive to be “like” me — strive to be yourself. Do whatever is placed in your heart by God, and involve Him in every plan. When you follow His way instead of your own, you’ll receive more than you imagined, because you’ve walked in the path He has designed for you.
