Dillion S. Phiri is a force at the intersection of creativity and change. A filmmaker, entrepreneur, and creative technologist, he has carved out a role as one of Africa’s most dynamic cultural architects. Through Creative Nestlings, he has empowered over 100,000 young creatives, giving them the tools, networks, and confidence to thrive in industries that often overlook them.
His ventures, from CRCO to Creativity Knows No Borders, are not just projects, they are movements that challenge how the world sees African creativity. Named among the MIPAD 100 Creatives, Phiri continues to mentor, speak, and design platforms that transform ecosystems, amplify voices, and build bridges between Africa and the world. Whether building Creative Nestlings, mentoring entrepreneurs, or launching new ventures, Phiri approaches everything as a storyteller. His mission is clear: to leave the world more creative, equitable, and hopeful for the next generation.
Meet CreatepreneurAfrica Dillion S. Phiri: South Africa’s Storyteller, Builder, Visionary
“I’m driven by filmmaking—the power to create new worlds, shape narratives, and inspire change,” .

Discovering the Power of Story
Raised by a single mother as an immigrant, Phiri learned early that storytelling could build bridges between cultures and create belonging. “My mother’s resilience taught me that creativity transforms struggle into strength,” he reflects.
That realization set him on a lifelong path, one where imagination became both survival and strategy.
Where Art Meets Agency
What excites Phiri most about his passion is its dual power: the ability to move people emotionally while also generating tangible value. “Creativity allows me to craft experiences that move people, while also generating value from pure ideas. It’s where art meets agency.”
This philosophy has guided his ventures, from Creative Nestlings to CRCO, proving that creativity is not just expression, it’s infrastructure.
Monetization as Freedom
For Phiri, making money from creativity was never about chasing wealth. “Monetization enables freedom. It fuels larger projects, supports communities, and amplifies voices. I see money as a tool to sustain creativity, not an end goal.”
His first validation came through early Creative Nestlings projects and web design work, moments that proved creativity could sustain itself and expand its reach.
Resilience and Purpose
Like any visionary, Phiri has faced moments of doubt. What kept him going? “Purpose. My mother’s sacrifices, my children’s future, my love for a good coffee, and the creatives who depend on our work remind me that quitting isn’t an option. Ideas keep coming from God; my role is to bring them to life.”
Motivation and Legacy
Every day, Phiri is fueled by family, legacy, and the relentless flow of ideas. He wants his children—and all young Africans, to see that African creatives can lead globally. Each filmmaker breaking through, each entrepreneur creating jobs, is proof that the ecosystem he’s building is working.
To the Doubters
Phiri’s response to those who doubted him is both gracious and firm: “Thank you. Doubt clarified my path and strengthened my resolve. I build not to prove them wrong, but to make a difference visible.”
Advice to Aspiring Creatives
His message to the next generation is simple but profound: “See me as a peer, not a pedestal. Build communities, research deeply, and understand the business of creativity. Invest in each other. Your unique perspective is your power. Own it, scale it, and never apologize for creating value from imagination.”
